EasyTip is designed for hospitality and services businesses such as restaurants, salons, clinics, hotels and clubs. In fact, any business that collects tips for its employees can benefit from EasyTip.  

How do I stay complaint with the UK Tipping Act?

Good news! Simply sign up with EasyTip. The Tipping Bill requires that all qualified tips be distributed fairly and fully to employees. EasyTip simplifies compliance by automating tip collection and distribution across cash, card, and digital payments. It ensures transparency with detailed reports, fosters employee trust, and boosts morale, making it easier for businesses to comply while creating a fair and rewarding work environment.

What are the advantages of EasyTip versus accepting tips on card machine or through POS?

Collection and distribution of tips via card machines is expensive and requires additional compliance and admin. In addition, you may need to keep a record of collected tips for your employees and provide access to it. With EasyTip, the cost of tip transactions is usually covered by the customer meaning the business can save on processing costs. As tips collection and distribution is outsourced (tips bypass the business entirely), compliance requirements for the business reduce. And the business saves administrative time thanks to EasyTip’s automated distributions platform and record keeping.  

Do my customers need an app to leave a tip?

Customers who leave a tip do not need an app, they can simply scan a QR code using any mobile phone camera. For staff however, there is an app downloadable via Apple App Store or Google Play Store which makes managing tips even easier. With notifications turned on, users will receive a message each time they receive a tip, when there are new updates or when new actions are needed on your profile.

How quickly will I receive my tips?

Payouts depend on your chosen tips collection type (Individual or Team tips) and tax reporting preferences. Generally, EasyTip has payout options ranging from instantly, daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly. 

Do I have to pay tax on my tips?

Under UK law, you must pay income tax on all tips. However, tips received through the EasyTip platform are exempt from National Insurance contributions, provided HMRC guidelines are followed. Importantly, our platform makes it much easier to fulfil your tax obligations. We also offer mixed reporting configurations for businesses with self-employed and employed staff.
