Why are there card fees?
EasyTip only charges its users a nominal fee, which is less than a third of the transaction cost. By helping to cover these fees as part of your tip, you ensure the server gets the full amount.
How quickly will I receive my tips?
Payouts of tips to tip recipients depend on the tax reporting option each venue chooses. We offer two options for businesses.

Option 1: If your business wants to be responsible for withholding taxes from tips collected by your employees, EasyTip can send the gross collected tips to your business’ bank account to allow you to withhold relevant taxes via PAYE. With this setup, tips are typically paid out each month, but can be paid out as regularly as required.

Option 2: Alternatively, your staff may opt to self-report tips. Both employees and self-employed workers can choose this option. In this case, gross tips will be paid out by EasyTip directly to each staff member. With this setup, the money will typically reach the recipient’s bank account within three working days, though this may vary across banks.
Do I have to pay tax on my tips?
Under UK law, you must pay income tax on all tips. However, tips received through the EasyTip platform are exempt from National Insurance contributions, provided HMRC guidelines are followed.

Importantly, our platform makes it much easier to fulfil your tax obligations. We also offer mixed reporting options for businesses with self-employed and employed staff.

For more information, please head over to our Resources page which explains what you can do depending on your type of employment.
How do I declare tax on the tips I’ve earned via EasyTip?
For businesses which want to withhold taxes from tips collected by your employees, EasyTip can send gross tips to your businesses bank account to allow the business to withhold relevant taxes via PAYE. This option is called “employer reporting” and alleviates tax reporting responsibility, on tips earned via EasyTip, from employees.

For self-employed staff, you will need to report tips as part of your annual self-assessment. You can use the EasyTip app to know exactly how much you have earned in any given period and report this accordingly.

There are also instances when employees, despite being on payroll, choose to report their tips individually. In such cases, employees can use the EasyTip app to track their tips and report them either as part of self-assessment or through updating their tax code. The latter method allows individuals to report additional earnings of up to £2,500 per year and pay tax via PAYE in the following tax year without completing a tax return. This can be arranged by addressing a letter to HMRC, informing them of your collected tips and requesting an update to your tax code accordingly.
Who sees my feedback?
Only you and your manager will be able to see the feedback left to you by customers.
Can I post my feedback on Instagram / social media?
Yes! In fact, we have a simple tool for turning positive reviews into beautiful posts or stories to share on social media.
Can I link up EasyTip reviews to Google / Trustpilot / Expedia?
As well as leaving feedback on the EasyTip platform, we also have functionality that allows businesses to direct customers to relevant external review websites such as Google Reviews. Talk to our company representatives to learn how this could be implemented in your business.
Can I find out who’s left me a tip?
We want to make tipping as quick and secure as possible, so we do not ask for any personal information from tipping customers.
